AN EDITOR’S LETTER

There should still be room to fish.

I’m Caleb Morgan, the editor behind Kayak Fishing Equipment. That sentence is the starting point for how I want this site to approach gear.

Dear reader,

A kayak equipment list can grow quickly. A better seat leads to questions about position. A fish finder brings a mount, a battery, and cables. Storage creates another decision about reach, weight, and what needs to come off before the drive home.

I’m interested in that chain of decisions. My purpose here is to slow it down enough that each purchase has a clear job. I want the site to help you picture the complete setup, not just the product sitting alone on a retailer’s page.

That means asking some unglamorous questions. Will this fit the exact kayak? Can you reach it? Can you remove it for transport? What else must you buy? And would a simpler arrangement do the job just as well?

I’d rather an article leave you confident about one useful purchase than uncertain about five extras.

My three editorial priorities

FIT

The exact model matters.

A mount, drive, or seat recommendation is incomplete if the compatibility is vague. I want model differences and missing parts spelled out.

SPACE

A clear deck has value.

More equipment is not automatically an improvement. Access, storage, and the way pieces interact belong in the comparison.

VALUE

Count the whole purchase.

The sticker price is only part of the decision. Necessary adapters, power, transport, and maintenance can change the picture.

The questions behind this publication

Who is it for?
People building a first fishing kayak setup, replacing an awkward component, or checking how new gear will fit what they already own.
What will you find?
Buying guides, component comparisons, and planning notes about kayaks, propulsion, rigging, electronics, storage, and transport.
What counts as evidence?
Product specifications, manufacturer instructions, and direct observations serve different purposes. Articles should identify their basis and never invent testing or experience.

A quick word about buying links

The site may earn a commission when readers buy through qualifying links. That support should be disclosed, and it does not make a product suitable by itself. Read the affiliate disclosure and editorial policy for the details.

What would make your setup easier?

If there is a gear question you cannot find a clear answer to, email contact@kayakfishingequipment.com. Include the exact kayak or accessory model and the decision you are trying to make. Those practical questions are the kind I want this publication to address.
